see..2007 message In 2008 I want the right grasp of faith to cross the many days and months of 2008 despite the waves all about. I bet like 2007, 2008 will be an emotional roller coaster. Picture this – On the crest of a wave Job looked forward in faith to spending eternity in God's presence: `I know that my Redeemer lives... I myself will see him with my own eyes' [Job 19:25, 27]. At another point he questioned God's justice in allowing the ungodly to `spend their years in prosperity and wished himself go down to the grave in peace' [Job 21:13].

The world view is you either swim or you sink. But I want more …like Peter I want to walk on the water to Jesus [1 Jn 5:4 for whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith]. God understands our suffering because he experienced it in the act of love through the death of Christ Jesus (the resurrected saviour). In John 14:25-27 Jesus said if anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you….my peace I give to you. I do not give like the world gives let not your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Learn the lessons of 2007 and resolve in 2008 to lean back on God's sovereignty, fixing and settling our thoughts on that unshakeable, unmovable reality; we can experience great inner peace. Is 26:3 ‘Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusts in thee’. Our troubles may not change. Our pain may not diminish. Our loss may not be restored. Our problems may not fade with the new dawn of 2008. But the power of those things to harm us is broken as we rest in the fact that God is in control.' [Jn 16:33] these things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

What do you want in 2008, swim, sink or stroll across? God’s promise to you and me for 2008 stands settled; [Jeremiah 29:13] ‘you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart’. The scripture declares [Isaiah 55:6] ‘seek the Lord while he may be found call on him while he is near’.

This year I know God’s got exciting things in store for us personally and corporately as his Church and specifically at Gate House Furaha ACF.
